Located in East Boothbay, Maine, Bigelow Labs is a new three-building multi-phased 64-acre campus serving a world-renowned non-profit center for oceanic research. It is the first LEED® Platinum certified scientific research laboratory in Maine.
This 60,000 sq. ft. campus of 3 interconnected buildings houses the world’s first microbial single cell genomics facility, state-of-the-art laboratories and a center for the largest collection of marine phytoplankton in the world. DeBlois Electric wired the first of three buildings which housed the infrastructure for all three. There were many intricate systems with a lot of architectural challenges ranging from glass or radius walls to ceilings without access. Through meticulous planning, we successfully created this challenging project.
